Attention, 

kdesign, entropy  as well as rgeostat and baykrig (which are needed for
kdesign) are preliminary versions, incomplete and not fully tested.

kdesign relies on a patched version of R: 

Apply R-1.2.0-genlibs-patch and recompile your R installation, better 
get genlibs.tgz and read the acompanying README, baykrig will even need 
the R-1.2.0-objs-patch.

Then build rgeostat and baykrig with the command

  R INSTALL --build-lib-so {rgeostat|baykrig}

Then "R INSTALL kdesign" will find the shared libraries from rgeostat and 
baykrig and link kdesign against these libraries. 

This may change in future versions.
